[PC] Free – Quake II RTX Upgrade (3 Levles Included, Quake II Full Game Required to Unlock All Levels) @ GOG.com

Quake II RTX (Upgrade) has been previously released for free on Nvidia and Steam, but today (August 20th 2021) it was also just released on GOG, which is a nice announcement for those folks who like getting their games / DLCs / add-ons / bonus materials etc. using GOG’s offline installers or GOG Galaxy client.

  • GOG has the Windows only version of Quake II RTX for the time being
  • For Linux gamers, they can go to Nvidia’s GitHub repository to find and download Linux version of Quake II RTX (requires Linux operating system distribution that is binary compatible with Ubuntu 16.04)

About Quake II RTX

Quake II RTX builds on the work of Christoph Schied and the team at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, who added ray tracing to Quake II to create Q2VKPT (in turn building upon the Q2PRO code base). NVIDIA has introduced new path-traced visual effects, has improved texturing, and has made dozens of other changes and improvements, resulting in an experience that rivals games created today, and pushes your RTX hardware to the limit.

Quake II RTX is fully ray-traced and includes the 3 levels from the original shareware distribution.
